Students at Salisbury East High School are given the opportunity to take part in a variety of sporting activities designed to promote skills associated with team building, relationship building, and motor skill development.
Lunchtime activities include basketball, Futsal (indoor soccer), volleyball, badminton, Australian Rules Football, chess and table tennis.
Intra-school activities include track and field, volleyball, basketball, futsal, netball, football (soccer), and Australian Rules Football.
Sports Day takes place every year in Term 1. This is a whole school event that takes place on school grounds. Our house teams, Fendon, Harvey, Moss and Laurence, compete in track and field, and team novelty events. Students also challenge their skills with a mobile rock-climbing wall.
Students are regularly given the opportunity to take part in inter-school sporting competitions against other schools in the Northern Zone (during school hours). Almost all major sports (and some lesser known sports) are offered and the variety continues to grow with each coming year. A nominal fee is charged for involvement in these competitions to cover the costs of transport, referees, and nomination fees.
Teams are also given the opportunity to be entered into knock-out competitions where they compete against schools from all over South Australia. Nearly all major sports are offered but these may vary from year to year. Once again, a nominal fee is charged for involvement in these competitions to cover the costs of transport, referees, and nomination fees.
